Clear Value from Option Set Field

We are on CRM 2016, and now there doesn't appear to be a way to remove a value from an Option set field. Is there a means to accomplish this without having to add a blank option to each set? I would much prefer the column to be null if no value has been selected, or if a previous one were removed.

I have just checked this in 2016 Update 1 and I can select and option set value then set it back to blank after this

Do you have a screenshot of the problem?

Just a dug a little deeper into it and the field the user was complaining about is marked as business recommended. In that field there is no blank row option for me. In a field without the designation there is a blank value in the list. I can kind of understand this behavior, but it is annoying when a user accidentally selects a value from the list. See screenshot.

Yeah a BR Field will not allow you to go back to a blank value - The only way around it is to put in the blank value, You could also create a clear field workflow that would do it in the background

I would recommend to make the field optional instead of doing any customizations for the requirement you are looking.
