Happening on two users.  Both global administrators.  Tried different browsers.  I am going into the user section.  Selecting a user.  Then clicking "Manage Roles".  I  select a role, click OK and I get this:

Business Process Error

OrganizationServiceFault System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at Microsoft.Dynamics.FOCommon.Plugins.Services.DualWriteSecurityRoleAssociateService.PreAssociate(LocalPluginContext localcontext)
at Microsoft.Dynamics.FOCommon.Plugins.PluginBase.Execute(IServiceProvider serviceProvider) If you contact support, please provide the technical details.

I have Googled this error over and over and cannot find a solution. It mentions plugins but I have no idea how to access where my plugins are

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Partner

Yes this seems to be because of a Plugin assembly, you can check the plugins in settings -> customization -> customize the system -> there you can see plugin assemblies

Additionally you can also check if you have solution "Dynamics365 Finance And Operations Common solution" installed as this can be because of this solution as well

I see the plugin assemblies but what do I do now to fix the error?

    Hi,

You can deactivate the problematic plugin steps. Once deactivated, try adding user.

There are 2 ways to disable plugin steps:

    • Go to System Settings -> Customization -> Customize this System.
    • On the left plan click on SDK Messaging Processing Steps.
    • Locate the step(s) related to the assembly (plugin) and click on Deactivate.

The second approach is to use the Plugin Registration Tool to deactivate plugin steps. Plugin Registration Tool is shipped in Dynamics 365 SDK in \Tools\PluginRegistration folder.

To download the Plugin Registration Tool, go here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/developer/download-tools-nuget

Once you connect to your organization, follow this guide to disable the steps:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/common-data-service/register-plug-in

    Hope this solves the problem.

    Best,

    Wahaj
