Hi, I have associated the contact to an account by fields mapping, I can see the contacts displayed in the contact pane on the account form, but for the primary contact pane, what field to map when I import the contact data so that it displays the details automatically?

    Hi sdnd,

since you are importing contact records, primary contact field on the account entity won't be updated automatically. You can either update it after you have imported the contacts (as Gopalan suggested above), or, possibly, you can automate this process by creating that kind of workflow. It has to know, somehow, that the contact being imported is supposed to be a primary contact for the related account, so that would be the purpose of that extra column/field.

If you know which is the primary contact when importing the data, you might create a new "two options" field on the contact entity and attach a workflow to it.

When that field is set to "true", that workflow would go to the related account and update "primary contact" field on the account record

If you do it before importing the data, everything will happen automatically (but you'll need to include that extra column into your spreadsheet)

    Hi

You would have to set the primarycontactid in account, after importing all the contacts.

This is a Contact (1:N) Account relationship.
