Hi,

What would you consider the appropriate amount of time to keep audit logs for?

Is there any best practices recommended for D365 that can be referred to as our audit table keeps filling up so assume we have something set which isnt necesarry.

From the official side, I did not find a doc for D365 CRM audit log best practice. However, I would like to share suggestions about audit log.

1.Just enable auditing for required entities and fields.

2.For every quarter, there will be a audit partition in "Settings > Auditing > Audit Log Management". You can delete them based on your business requirements. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/free-storage-space#reduce-log-storage)

3.CRM doesn’t support the export of Dynamics 365 audit log, you can try XrmToolBox.For example:

For “User Audit Viewer”, it export audit records by users. https://github.com/tech-quantum/XrmToolBoxPlugins

For “Audit History Extractor”, it export audit records by entities. https://github.com/alduzzen1985/Audit-History-Extractor

All these tools in XrmToolBox are plugins developed by other users using corresponding web APIs. If the existing tools cannot fulfill your requirements, you can consider getting the audit information you required by programming.

Dynamics 365 provides multiple APIs related to audit logs. You could get audit information by coding.
