Installed the FRx Migration Wizard.

I get to the window where you are asked to confirm the migration. I select 'es' amd kick off thr migration. About 10 seconds into it I get the following error ' an unknown error has occurred during migration'.

I click OK to this mssage and I am brough on to the Company Configuration window. Can't get past this because no providers are displayed.

Anyone any ideas??

RE: an unknown error has occurred during migration management reporter

Go to the Event Log Viewer, Microsoft Dynamics to see additional information on this error message.

My issue was that I had set up an Admin User for Management Reporter, but this user did not have rights to the folder that held the FRX database.

I had the same issue.  I had to open the FRxRpts.F32 file in Microsoft Access.  The password is aCcelr8cln4u.  I had to remove references to specification sets other than Default that no longer existed in my report catalog.  After that I was able to migrate without issue.

I am also getting the same error while FRx to MR migration. Please let me know if you have the solution now :(

RE: an unknown error has occurred during migration management reporter

Paul - I am sorry, I do not recall how the logs looked when I was troubleshooting this issue.  I just remember finding an "f32" (Spec set) file for a company that did not exist in the SYSDATA from which I was migrating.

If you still have FRx up and running, log into it and then review Company Information and take note of all of the spec sets being used.  Then backup the SYSDATA directory and remove any unused spec sets (which should delete the f32 files).

After I removed the unused spec set file (f32) the migration proceeded.

    Grady,

Do you have any information which would help me determine if your problem is the same as the problem I am working on? In the MR migration logs I see one f32 file which seems to throw thousands of errors, did you experience similar behavior from the stray f32 you found?

    Thanks,

    Paul

RE: an unknown error has occurred during migration management reporter

I understand this is an old thread, but wanted to add for future people that find this.

The "Unknown error has occurred during migration" that I encountered was because of a "stray" f32 file that was not related to any companies.  After removing it from the SYSDATA directory I was able to migrate without error.

Re: an unknown error has occurred during migration management reporter

    Hi Ian,

Check the migration guide or the migration KB on CustomerSource. Try cleaning up your reports and see if that help. Otherwise there may be a more specific error message in the Event Log of what is occurring.

We also have had a few issues where there is corruption in the .F32 file that needs to be removed by support before the migration will run. Hopefully the cleanup will remove it, so give that a try first.

    Thanks

    Ryan
