Exporting to Excel

I am trying to export all of our Active Accounts to an excel spreadsheet.  I am able to export the default "Active Accounts" view just fine.  But when I created a new view "with all the fields" I receive an error saying, "Failed to Generate Excel - An error occurred when CRM tried to generate the Excel file. If this problem persists, contact your system administrator."  I tried to look at the log file, but it is grayed out.

Any thoughts?

Is there a limit to how many columns an can be exported?

Thank you for your help!

Use the SDK to export the records. You can download the fetch xml of your view from the Advanced Find and then  just query the records via SDK and dump to excel. If that is not your cup of tea then you can use SSIS toolkit from KingswaySoft or CrazyRock  and write file to an excel destination file.

Check that you don't have two columns with the same display name, as this usually causes issues.

Today we have the same problem in our project. We have tried the duplicated display names solution, but unfortunately, it has not worked. Neither a problem with the number of records to export. Finally, we have discovered the problem, a value in a picklist had been eliminated!! When you re-create the value in the picklist (with the same id, of course) the problem has been solved magically. I hope it helps :)
