Revalutation of GL accounts

Hi all,

I could use some help with the revaluation of the GL accounts, where I'm trying to see if there is a better way to perform the revaluation automatically on a monthly basis.

The FAQ here doesn't answer all my questions.:

  • I would like to revaluate several GL accounts on a monthly basis and create a batch task for it. If I enter a start date of 01/01/20 and an end-date of 31/12/20, all revaluation takes place on 31/12/20. Is it possible to revaluate automatically on the last day of each month, or do I have to configure a revaluation for each month-end (so 12 times)?
  • Which FX rate is used for the revaluation of the GL accounts, it is the FX rate with a date which is the most recent before the end-date of the period? I saw that this can be configured for Dynamics 365, but I guess not for AX 2012?

If you could help me with these questions, it would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Frankk,

For No 1: You would have to start the revaluation 12x. There is no period definition or anything alike which would allow you fully automating that task

For No 2: Right. You use the most recent rate before the end of the period. What rate would you like to use?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Dear Ludwig,

Thank you very much for the answer. I'm trying to get it revaluated at the FX rate in AX at the first date of the next month (1 February for balance sheet date 31 January for example).

    Hello Frankk,

To my knowledge this kind of revaluation would require a system modification. Yet, if the fluctuation is small and the overall revaluation effect not material then the standard functionality might be sufficient. Probably discuss with your finance team colleagues whether this adjustment is worth the effort.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
