Margins on SOP Blank Invoice are not the same

Good day to all,

I have a modified SOP Blank Invoice form where the left margin is smaller than the right margin.  I'm not sure how this happened, but I'm not sure how to correct it.  It certainly looks a bit strange with the margins not matching.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Laurie

Are you using the Standard (Report Writer) form, or the Word Template? Based on the tags you used, I'm guessing you're using the Report Writer form.

The first thing that occurs to me is that you might have something in your actual printer settings that is controlling or overriding the layout of the report.  Do the margins seem ok when printed to the screen?  You can go into your Printers & Devices and then check your printer properties to see if everything appears correct in your settings.

Something else to look at would be to print the report to the screen and then click the "Modify" button to open it in RW. Once there, in the "Report Definition" window, try toggling the Preprinted Form checkbox off/on.  In that same window, see if the "Page Orientation" setting is using the Printer Setting, or if it is using a static setting of either landscape or portrait.

Hopefully, some of this will help you get to the bottom of it!

    Hi Lyn,

I'm using the Standard (report writer) form.  I know it is not the printer settings, because the margins show up differently on both my clients' printer and also on my printer.  It is difficult to tell by printing to the screen, as you can pull the window out to the right as much as you like (and it is the right margin that is wider than the left).

I did try opening the report in Report Writer, and toggling the Preprinted Form checkbox.  That didn't appear to have an effect.  The report is using the static setting of Portrait for the Page Orientation.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Laurie

    Laurie,

Were the margins ever correct? If you print an unmodified version of the form are margins still off?

    Kind regards

    Leslie

Leslie's questions are good ones, and I have one more - You mentioned that you printed to your client's printer & also to your own. Do you mean that it prints correctly on one, but not the other? Or that it prints incorrectly on both?

If it always prints incorrectly, you may be left with recreating your modified form as the best option.  To do that, you would delete the current version of the modified from the Reports dictionary and then recreate it.

If you wanted to avoid that, you could open a support case with Microsoft.  Perhaps they would see something or have some other suggestions.

    Leslie,

I'm actually using the SOP modified form from David Musgrave's Blog.  It the one with the added Comment lines.  I have since posted a question on that blog to see if anyone else that has downloaded the form, has had the issue.

    The unmodified form is fine.

    Thanks,

    Laurie

    Hi Lyn,

Yes, it is printing incorrectly on both my clients printer and on my printer.

I may end of needing to recreate the form, as I am certain it came from the modified SOP form I downloaded from David Musgrave's blog.

    Thanks for you input, Lyn.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the paper size. They use the A4 (I think) paper size in Australia.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
