Cleaning up unmanaged solutions

Currently we have several unmanaged solutions that have been created over the last few years, containing a variety of customizations and additions.  I was curious what the best way to roll these up into a single solution would be, so that we can begin using patches on the base solution to keep track of changes.

My current thought is to create a new unmanaged solution and include all of the components in the organization, then delete the old unmanaged solutions in favor of the new one.  Then we can use patching off of the newly created unmanaged solution going forward.

If I go this route, can I delete the old unmanaged solutions without losing any customizations or data since they should all be included in the new one?

Thanks!

Thanks, I wound up using Solution Components Mover (xrmtoolbox) to consolidate the solutions. Now I should be able to take a more focused change management approach between DEV and PROD environments and more cleanly implement updates to our environments.

    Hello,

Yes you can do this. Even if you didn't put your customizations in a new solution, they will not be deleted from CRM bcz they are unmanaged. But before you delete the old solutions, make sure that u have added all the components in the new one to consolidate all your changes in one.
