Does Microsoft still intend on adding budgeting functionality to Management Reporter?

Posted on by 240

I heard that the plan with Microsoft Management Reporter is to eventually extend its remit to include budgeting and forecasting functionality. Can anyone tell me if this is still the case, and if so when the upgraded version of Management Reporter is likely to be available?

Thanks for your advice.

Louise

    Louise,

There may be a couple of different things to factor into that question. I can't answer this qustion at this time.

    Thanks

Thanks for your response Ryan - what I am interested in is whether it will be possible to use MR V3 for forecasting and budgeting if you don't also have Forecaster. Is that the case?

    Louise,

Some of the details are not finalized, but MR V3 will have a much tighter integration than what Forecaster and MR V2 had in the past.

    Thanks

    Hi Both,

Thanks for this information, Just to check: this means that MR V3 will be developed for use as a stand-alone budgeting/forecasting tool rather than just integrating with Forecaster as it currently does?

I will check back with the CPM blog to see when there are more developments, and will drop Frank an email to see the webinar.

    Thanks again

    Louise

    Hi Louise,

Frank is correct that we are planning on adding budgeting and forecasting for use with Management Reporter. Forecaster 7 is available now and does integrate with Management Reporter. As we have more information we will post on the CPM blog.

Thanks for your prompt response Frank. Unfortunately I am based in the UK and so the webinar is outside of my working hours but I will look out for more information on MR V3 in future.

That's correct.  The most recent MR product road map revealed at Convergence 2011 indicates budgeting/forecasting capabilities will be rolled out in MR V3 due out in 2012+.  For more info on management reporter and other product updates, join us for our post-Convergence webinar next Wednesday, May 18th.  Here's the link to register - http://www.intellpartners.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=99.

    Hope this helps,
