How to manage jobs/projects with a fixed cost/price task and a task with undefined number of hours

Dear Community,

We are looking for a solution for a standard (I think) process of managing jobs/projects.

It is not unusual for us to have a Job/Project that is composed by a task that we sold at a fixed price and a task that is variable based on hours spent by our employee at the customer site.

For the fixed price part it is clear and well described inside the guide.

For the variable part it is absolutely not clear ... What we would like to achive is:

  1. Not assigning a specific resource/person to the task
  2. Not defining a specific quantity to the task
  3. Invoice the total amount of spent hours on a monthly bases
  4. Invoice the total amount of spent hours based on job/project prices
  5. Have only one total amount of hours inside the invoice

Summarrizing, we would like that any employee can register hours on the job/project using the timesheet and as soon as the manager or the project manager approve the timesheet, our accountant can invoice the total amount of hours (one total) to the customer on a monthly basis using the job/project list price.

How can we achive that without adding any external addon?

I thank you all in advance and I hope this could be helpfull for many others.

Regards,

Scotz

pt 3/4/5: invoice with total amount of hours: that could be done with a small customization in the creation of the invoice.

pt 1: create a new resource GRES for use as a kind of general resource, which can then be used by more than one employee for registering times. i assume the employees use the job journal to register the times.

pt 2: set a max value as quantity, register only the needed/used hours.

    Dear Franz,

Thanks for your help, the point number 1 is not feasible for us, we want to use the time sheet for every team member in any case.

Does the other suggestions work also if any user has its own account/person assigned?

    Regards,

    Scotz
