Alternative products for purchasing

Hi,

Below is my requirement looking in D365.

For example, we have to need to order an oil filter.  We were looking for a product called Oil1, but we are unable to locate a vendor who has it.  A compatible oil filter produced by a different manufacturer called  Oil2 can be purchased in place of the Oil1.  Both are products in the Released Product Category screen.  we specified the Oil1 oil filter on a PO, we could do something to easily look up a list of compatible filters and do a substitution. There was also a way to link the two filters together.

    For purchase, please check if the supplementary item feature meets your requirement.

    Set up the supplementary item in the released product, then check if supplementary item is needed in PO line. Please take a look this blog: https://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/happyd365fo/posts/supplementary-item-usage-in-purchasing-in-microsoft-dynamics-365-finance-and-operations
