The Line cannot be split

Dear Experts,

When I am trying to add a new line, NAV shows an error message "The Line cannot be split".

We have no clues why this is happening. Do you have any ideas why there are errors when we add a new line and are there any solutions to prevent this happen again?

Thanks.

    Hi Kelvin Tsang

This is Nav Default and You have Limit of Inserting Line In Between because every time when you insert line Nav will dividing the line number difference by 2 and add new line so there is limit that you can insert line in between two item please refer below may example

Assume that your sales order has two item and in now you need to insert item in between those two item by default

first Item will have Line No 10000 & Second Item will have Line No 20000 (the Line Gap is 10000) when you add new line what system will do it will divide 10000/2 value is 5000 and your new item line no is 15000

now by sitting on the your last item you again insert new Item this time new item line no will be 20000-15000 = 5000 /2 = 2500 new item line no is 17500

so this patter is continue and after some time system cannot split line number it has reached the maximum of this formula also you can insert in between another 2 items not between what you have already added.

for you to understand this right click on item detail any header field and go to chose column and bring the "Line No" field to the found you can place is after the Type field an you can see how your line numbers has split  in your case.

    Thanks

    Hello Calvin,

As per Amol check the AutoSplitKey property of Sales Quote Subform you have to set Yes, And if you want multiple newline then also set MultipleNewLines = Yes
