Sign up BC Cloud without Microsoft 365 Plan

Hi Everyone,

I will have a new customer who would like to Sign up for Business Central Cloud.

The company does not have a Microsoft 365 Plan and not plan to have it in the near future.

I know it's possible to sign up for BC and Microsoft will assign a domain with xxx.onmicrosoft.com.

Could anyone explain to me how the BC integration with their Outlook and Office will work, or it will not work at all?

and, what kind of procedure need to be done if the company finally decides to subscribe to Microsoft 365 in the future?

Thank you and best regards,

Mohammad Rizki Maulana

You should be looking at Dynamics 365 integration with Microsoft 365 and not a plan. Start with a Dynamics 365 module like Sales Professional and then add BC. You will get good integration with Outlook and any Office products you are using.

    Thanks for the response.

Btw, my customer will only subscribe for Business Central, not for Dynamics 365 Sales or others.

and, at this moment they have MS. Office offline and do not plan to move to Office 365 (Microsoft 365) Subscription plan.

That's why I am asking how Business Central will integrate with their Office Offline? or it will no happen at all.

    Best Regards..

With a SaaS subscription they will struggle to use aspects like the outlook connector or the excel one for editing data

This blog shows a setup issue you would receive: https://yzhums.com/2456/

In terms of word or excel downloads it will be ok as you take that onto the local machine to open it.

    Hi Josh,

    Thank you for the clarification.

So, as expected that the user will not able to use those integrations (Outlook & Excel Edit) unless they are on M365 subscription plan.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards

It will integrate locally as you only interested in presence office and BC online that you will be using. Hybrid solution will work.

    Hello,

It is possible without an Office 365 subscription but the customer will loose some functionality here and there like enhanced mailing. There are other customers as well that run their own OnPrem Exchange Server and unblock IP's of the data center the customers tenant is operating from so they can host their own mission critical business application like Exchange is.

    Thanks.
