image in email not showing up

We are on-premise crm2013 and using server side-sync for email.  We are creating some email templates and want to put an image in them.  I have used the copy and paste from a image hosted in a public url.  The image will show up in our outlook however If I send that email out to gmail or another email service the only part that shows up is the image URL.  It also does not ask me if I want to download images.  I'm stumped.

    What is the image URL?

Is the email definitely being sent as an HTML email opposed to plain text?

It's a public URL from one of our websites.  How can I tell In CRM if it's being sent as an html email?  Is there a setting?

Actually, no there is no setting, by default it sends rich text which 'should' support copying and pasting of imagery, however, you could follow these steps

I have tried the mail chimp route and also didn't work.  I was able to dig into this deeper and maybe come up with some more details.  Our CRM is on crm13.ws.xxx.org domain.  Our exchange server is a different domain.   If I pull the template up from our outlook client and sent it, it goes through fine.  Nothing is stripped.  So it seems that exchange may be stripping it based on the crm initiating the email from another domain?

    Hi Tom,

    Can you try the following:

    1. if you have image available on your website, instead of URL copy image and now paste it to CRM email template

    2. If image is not available on your website, post it to any personal website or facebook or anywhere, where it goes public, now copy image instead of URL and paste it to CRM email template

    See if it works

    Prashant,

I've tried the copy and paste route.  Images still get stripped when going to an external email.  See my last reply.  I think it may have something to do with exchange and CRM because when sending from the outlook client the images are there.

Hi Tom, have you managed to resolve your issue.  I'm encountering the same problem as you and wondered if you had received any fixes?

seems like it may be a problem with Exchange changing the message type.  Still working on it

hi Tom, had the same problem in the past and the only way it works for us is to create an html template that includes the pictures required for your email template(text is optional in this stage) then copy and paste the html template to the email template. just make sure the location of the pics included in the html template never changes
