Hello,

I would like to know something about the server-side-synchronization. I will be using the server-side -synchronization with a Exchange online  to send and receive emails for queues.

And i was wondering if the user must have a specific email adress in order to receive the notifications for the queues?

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Albert

You must have a Exchange mailbox for the queue email address - as long as the two match and the email address is approved in CRM it should be ok.

    Hello Abe,

You should use Exchange Online licenses that belongs to the same CRM Online tenant, also you can use SMTP/POP configuration for Server Side Sync, it will be needed to approve mailboxes with O365 admin if this option is configurated but also you can use an specific email that doesn't belong to CRM Online users in queues for example you have user a@x.onmicrosoft.com, b@x.onmicrosoft.com and you can use a mailbox where the user doesn't have CRM Online license (c@x.onmicrosoft.com)

    Hello Abe,

You can use your own domain if this is configured/added in O365 tenant, when you are managing your users you should specify the required domain then this will be synced with CRM Online and the domain for CRM users will be the same. Also you can federate your users to be used in CRM Online but you can't use hybrid deployments as Exchange Onpremise with Exchange Online.

    Thank you for the answer,

I have one more question, i am planning to use the  server-side-synchronization for 5 queues in my Dynamics CRM online application. And Each queue must have a specific email.

So what i would like to know is how many user should i buy in my Exchange server online in order to make it work?

From my understanding i need to get one user for one email = one queue,  Am i correct?

    Thanks,

    Best Regards

    Hello Abe,

Yes, you sould have 1 exchange license for each queue that you want to have in CRM Online, it is not needed to have these exchange users as CRM Online users.

    For testing purpores you can:

Create a CRM Online trial with e3 trial for 1 month

    www.microsoft.com/.../crm-free-trial-overview.aspx

use link "No thanks, I'll get started on my own"

After creating trial you can activate E3 licenses in O365 portal

Or you can use you active CRM Online instance and configure pop/smtp profiles for SSS as yahoo or gmail to test your environment after that change to Exchange.

If you already have Exchange online users/licenses you can try your implementation with these.

There is an option to use forwarding mailboxes and queue routing, this can help you to reduce Exchange Online licenses and use only one queue for one team or all the organization but you could be limited when sending and receiving emails at different queues.

If this question is solved please mark answer as verified.

Hi you do not need a license for each email address.

If you are using Exchange Online, then all you need to do is setup "Shared Mailboxes" for each of the email queues you want in CRM.

These are free within the tenant, and users who wish to look at these will need a license.  But CRM links to them and brings the email in and / or out automatically without any additional licenses over the CRM and Email licenses you already have.
