connecting to Management Reporter application service takes long time when rebuilding data mart

Hi,

I'm trying to rebuild my Data Mart of Management Reporter. I have GP version 18.3. When I try to enable integration, it is trying to connect to the Management Reporter application service, but it is taking a long time to connect. I waited a couple of hours, but it is still trying connect. Below is how my configuration console looks like:

It seems stuck at this stage and it doesn't complain that I entered an incorrect password or it can't connect to the server. It just hangs. I was wondering is it normal for the console to take a few hours to connect? If it doesn't what issues would I have to look at so it would connect correctly? Thanks!

    Hi Jason,

    The update of GP won't matter unless you are on an old build of MR.  If you have the 2.12.16xxx you'll be good to go.  If the timestamp on the 'last time an integration occurred' line does not change, you'll want to check the data mart integration logs.  MR is connected to the services.  When you install the services, they connect.  If they don't you would not have been able to install them.  If you see the two services listed and can stop/start them, the services are connected.

    Hi Greg,

    Also we recently updated from GP 16 to GP 18.3. The data mart used to be for GP 16. I was wondering could the different version number cause the slowness as well?

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks for your response. We left the program on over the weekend and when we checked yesterday, it was still trying to connect to the application service. The "last time an integration occurred" line did change did change, but we ended up cancelling the task and rolling back the server.

    I was wondering does it normally take days for the program to connect to the service? unfortunately we cancelled and rolled back before checking the logs. We could try again at a later date.

    You'll always see that line in the console, so it's nothing to worry about.  What you'll want to look at is the 'Last time an integration occurred' line.  The time stamp on that should change every few minutes.  You can also look at the Data Mart Integration log and see if there are any errors.  Periodically refresh the logs and check if new integrations are occurring.  

    You had an integration occur at 3:29 so the data mart is connected.  If there was an issue with the connection, you would have gotten an error when configuring it.  If you're able to click the Enable Integration button, the connect is there.  Depending on how many companies, how many years, how many transaction, etc., that you are integrating, the initial data mart load can take some time.  If you don't meet the system requirements for memory, that can add to the amount of time it takes too.
