Creating a lead from contact? :)

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to create a Lead directly from Contact entity form? 

I am well aware that the system is not build for that and the core process is very much vice versa. But I'm still in need for such function. 

Let me give some context. Our b2b sales process includes hundreds of researched accounts and contacts, which are being vetted and cold-called on a daily basis. Once we have some progress with the prospect - we'd qualify the contact and account info into a lead.

Now, I want to make this process faster to avoid going to Lead entity and then creating from there, but to create the lead directly from the contact (or account actually) form.

How can I make such process easy and simple from the Contact / Account?

    Reading you post makes me thing you turned around the process by first creating an account and contact, and after qualification creating a lead. It's supposed to be the other way around.

    I would built a ribbon button calling the WebApi to create a lead with the values from the account and contact. You could also consider a workflow if you want a no-code solution and make the start of the workflow dependant on the qualification of the contact.

    As Martijn Eikelenboom suggested, a workflow would work for you but I'd consider redesigning your process and creating opportunities for your customers instead of "dequalifying" your contacts and accounts into leads. I'd also consider redesigning your business process if you frequently change your customers into leads and back.

    Yes. Our sales process is complicated - we do work with leads (to create accounts & contacts in the same time), but in the same time we work with already researched accounts and contacts trying to make them leads / opportunities.

    The biggest need is that the process is dynamic (as various teams work on this) but simple in both directions. And I haven't figured out this direction very well.

    I will check the options based on your solutions.
