What I have implemented at a client was created custom fields on the Case form and then used a CRM add-in called "North52 Business Process Activites" and wrote a formula that would copy the case resolution fields to the case.

Since the case and case resolution entities are system entities, you could actually use North52's free version to accomplish this.
Or write a plug-in.

you cant do that, because the resolution is in another default entity and the entity is not allowed to customize.
if your user only want to view it, they can access via Activity pane.
