I would like to achieve that user clicks on a link in the online portal and the system opens external website and automatically logins the user using oauth2, token, cookie, etc authentication. Is this supported?

Do you myb know what would be the other way around with authentication? That starting point would be in a external website and the the user will be authenticated automatically because it is a valid user also in Dynamics Portal.

You could encrypt your password data with md5 or hashing. But as far as I konw, D365 portal does not support deep customization like override the login function to store password and username in cache or cookie directly.

you understand it correctly. The website is custom and they will provide the solution what will be suggested. Is it possible to extract password from the logged in user in Dynamics portal? I am thinking in some more secured way like hashing the username and password (if it is possible to extract) but not sure what can be achieved in the online portal - with self-hosted we wouldn't have any problems since you can have access to the portal code.

Do you mean you want to login the external website directly from portal by clicking a link?
If so,This has nothing to do with portal security authentication. you need to konw the external website's login authentication mechanism.
For example, could we pass the username and psw directly in the url and when the website archieve it, does the website have the funciton to Automatic identification of accounts and passwords and login automatically?
