I have a customer who sells nail varnishes. A customer can choose any four colours, these items all have different barcodes and are set up as individual items on rms 2.0. At certain time they may also receive one/two free. Any ideas on the best way to sell these items in rms?

Sounds like they could use either a Mix and Match Discount Scheme (where all the items get the discount) or a Buy X get Y Discount scheme (where the third, or fourth or Xth item get the discount)
Create the discount scheme first, then assign it to the items that would get discounted.
The help guide actually is pretty good in this area - pull up an items properties, click DISCOUNT tab, then click the HELP button - it will give you a fairly good explanation as to how these work, as well as other links to additional info on this feature.
