Fixed Asset Template

Hi Expert,

We use to be able to create Fixed Asset Template and assigning different no. series for different asset based on the template.

After recent update, we find that we are no longer able to find Fixed Asset Template from the lookup. Neither are we able to create multiple number series to different groups of assets.

Can someone confirm that this is how the FA in BC works now, i.e. no more asset template to be assign to group of asset and unable to have different number series for different asset groups?

Hope to hear from other experts.

Thanks,

May

    Hi,

As far as I know there is no standard functionality as Fixed Asset Templates like we have for Items.

You can try to create a configuration template with table Fixed Asset, add fields to it.

And then can create new fixed assets using create instance action.

in BC it is not seperated anymore and all templates are moved to "Templates" (like in NAV it was Master Templates)

Search for "Templates", press new, and add code and table ID 5600 for FA.
Then in Lines provide the values for the fields.

regarding using the template - one way is to open the Config.template and under Actions --> New Instance - You will create a new FA card with this.
On my quick test I didn't get a pop-up message when creating FA card directly - maybe when there are more than 1 Config.tamplate for the table this is triggered or some additional setup is needed.

    Hi Tang,

You will not find this feature in BC, But instead you can work with the old workaround for this as follows:

1- Relate the number series of the Fixed Asset with other number series, From Relationship Button in No. Series.

2- You will get the assisted button on Fixed Asset Number field.

3- After opening the assisted button, select the appropriate fixed asset number from the Number series list.

4- You can make the description of the Number series according to every category in Fixed Asset Categories.

    Hope this help.
