Phone Call activities not set to completed

Activities not auto-completing

Has anyone come across the issue that activities do not auto-complete after Save & Close? I remember this functionality being available in on-premise solution, but I'm not sure if the functionality of setting status = complete after saving the record exists in Dynamics 365 Sales or Customer Service.

Phone Call created either by quick create within contact, account, lead record or by going to Activities and Creating new Phone call, the phone call remains in Active state instead of setting status to Completed.

This is occurring for one of our clients but I've also checked in my own dev environment and it is the same.

What I've tried so far….

  • Not only are Phone call activities not automagically completed/closed but it looks like it is also affecting Emails, Appointments.
  • Ensured that the orgdbsettings are correct.

At first I thought this setting may only address on-premise, but the site states Dynamics CRM Online, which I'm assuming would mean current versions.

  • In my sandbox I've tried changing the MakeSocialPanePhoneCallCompleted orgsetting from True to False and back to True, but no change.
  • Checked in Chrome and Edge browsers - > Same outcome. Phone call record created does not close when Save and Close is selected.
  • Both browsers are up to date.
  • Clearing cache has no impact.
Here is a screenshot from my play environment showing that activities are showing active.

There is also a XRMToolbox add-on to check the org settings.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thank YOU!

    Hi djacobus,

Dynamics 365 online doesn't support this feature. you could use ribbon workbench to override save & close button.

         refer to  the link below:
