Why am I not receiving any inventory availability alert in Business Central SaaS

Hi,

We have followed all setup instructions.  On Sales & Receivable setup we have checked that Inventory Availability warning is true. On each individual stock item it is set to true.

Yet we can add any item to a sales order and even if inventory availability is below 0 no warning is shown. It requires a staff member to check in the FactBox (not always possible) and results in errors.

As anyone in supply chain knows - BC is far behind NetSuite, SAP B1 and others in this area now which all have advanced allocation strategies and reservations. This is not making us feel very positive.

What are we missing?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

When you have enabled the "Stockout warning" in sales & receivable setup and in individual item.

System will allow you to add the item in sales order and item stock out warning message is shown when the "quantity" field  is entered, as in system checks the availability of the quantity in the selected location and throws the alert.

Is the alert message not appearing after entering the quantity?

To be clear I do not get any message as would be expected when the setup is done as instructed.

    Hi RustyAustralis,

Have you enable Allow Negative Inventory in Inventory Setup?

If you can show us what kinda message you are expecting that would be helpful to us.

Inventory Setup, Prevent Negative Inventory is set to true.

Sales & Receivable Setup has Stockout Warning set to true.

Items do have lot based tracking. Some do have optional reservation set to true.

Location is set to use Warehouse Shipment, but no other advanced features.

Searches on forums shows there use to be the equivalent of the popup below. However, no web equivalent dialog or page level warnings is shown when quantity and date result in a negative balance below 0.

    Hi,

We suggest you to check the configuration in "My Notifications" (Search for My Notifications) and make sure that below mentioned notifications are enabled.

    1. Item availability is low.

    2. Items running low on inventory.

The above functionality is provided, so user can control their notifications based on their needs.

    Hi

Not sure what you need here: I created a new item, and then a new sales order. As soon as I have entered item and quantity, I have a notification (here I have 2 notifications, 1 related to item availability, and another one related to customer balance). If I check show result, I have then additional information

Not sure what you mean also with allocation strategies and reservation: you have reservation management as well here if needed, and setup at item card level.

    Kind regards

    Jerome

Well at least I know that it does work in the web client. Unfortunately I just don't get that coming up when inventory availability falls below 0.

Every setting anyone has mentioned so far has been checked and is correct. I've checked that the notification is active.

Sounds like at this stage I need to be engaging support and its not a configuration issue.

    1) You can Enable this per item by setting the field “Stockout Warning” on the Item card to "Default (yes)"

    2)  You can Enable this for all items using the field “Stockout Warning” on the Sales & Receivable Setup, you need to set it to True.

    This will resolve your problem

To be clear we have triple checked that we have those settings as you have articulated and still don't get a stock out warning. We have disabled and tested with no extension active still with no result. I'm beginning to think perhaps there is an issue that is Australia or our particular instance.
