Pick subassembly from inventory for production order

Posted on by 20
Finished good A is made from subassemblies B, C, and D.  When creating a production order for A, the B, C and D lines are indented showing they are subassemblies.  I have B and D in stock, so I don't need to make them.  I'm using advanced warehousing so raw materials are picked from bins and brought to the production bin for consumption. I can't get BC to recognize the subassemblies I have in inventory and consume them instead of picking the lower-level raw materials. I've tried moving the subassemblies to the production bin for consumption and they aren't recognized by the production order.  Has anyone found a way to use existing inventory this way?

I managed to answer this question myself.  Be replacing the component lines of subassemblies B and D with the subassemblies themselves, the subassemblies get picked instead of their components and the consumption posts as desired.  I hope this helps someone else.
