Change format of Address Validation State/Province field

I'm working on a new build of Dynamics 365 CRM (we are currently on 4.0 and doing a full replacement) and I am trying to format the State/Province field that is returned by the Address Validation.

Our APIs require an abbreviated state value ('TX' rather than 'Texas')

We do have Field Service.
