Hi All,

I have problem in Project ID sequences number:

Below is my sequences number set up:

and this is my project ID:

In my case there is no correlation or validation between my sequence number set up and my Project ID when I tick "Manual" numbering.

There although my first 4 digits should be "1000" when I fill with "10" system won't respond any warning/error message.

As well as the last digits which should be only 9 digits but it can be filled with 13 digits.

Is there anyone has explanation about this? Or can I make validation of Project ID number that should aligned with the number sequences?

Hi,

be aware of two issues:

1. creating subprojects - AX will add sequential number due to format set in parent/header project EVEN number series for Project ID is set manually !

2. when searching for projects - assume that you have two projects:

1234 and 1234-VBN - when you start some functionalities (e.g. project statements) system will treat project 1234-VBN as SUBPROJECT of 1234 !

therefore AX checks Project ID from left side to identify 'similar' projects :(

I have one question.

I have changed my proj id to manual and then i have created one project such as 1234 and after that i have created a new project 12345, while creating this project I have encountered an error stating "Project number conflicts with project number 1234."

how can this be resolved ?

So in AX, when I select manual, numbering format then will be ignored doesn't it?

If you want a structure like e.g. 1000-C-BUILD - and then what Next if there is a logic ? - then yes, it requires a manual number sequence.

But if manual - then it is totally manual without any help from AX in terms of supporting a structure.

Then you can input anything.

Hi Andre,

basicly the requirement actually for mix between alpha and numeric.

So let say I will need the format to be:

1000-C-BUILD

For this type, it should have manual numbering right?

Because as my previous testing, although I have set it up with certain format.

I still able to override it.

Hi M. Hasan,

Try to create a new number sequence and defining the desired format.

The select the it as number sequence for ProjectId

Hi M.H.,

When you set the number sequence to manual, there is no check on the format for project numbers. You can try to have it set to non manual and allow lower and higher numbers. Otherwise you have to customize it.
