Unable to Open ANY Case forms, anywhere. From the UI or Solution

I made some simple changes to the Case form this evening, nothing more than moving some fields around, hiding some sections, removing the visibility for fields that I didn't want to see any longer. Note, that some of these fields were required from the default installation, however some were not marked as being required from the field level but had red asterisk only when in the Main form Edit for the Case Form. I had done nothing prior to tonight outside of these changes and before tonight I had only added a few new fields.

When I access the Case form, I get the following error message.

I've started restoring a backup to a different instance but something doesn't appear right with it as well.  Any help, appreciated.

    Hi Wal,

it's a very generic error, and, realistically, what you are describing does not look like normal CRM behavior at all.. Try closing all browsers, clearing the cache, and see if it helps. If it does not, the best option might be to contact MS support.

Alex, thanks. I spoke with support before posting and I tried a new browser after logging out but support will not likely respond before Monday. It occurred to me that I should restore a backup before then considering 4 backups are kept and my last good version was from 4//21. I didn't want to the 4/22. 4/23, 4/24, 4/25 backups pushing it to the bottom of the list or out.

I'm not sure what the cause was, I didn't delete anything like an Entity or anything.

    Hi Wal,

Check if you have multiple Main Forms, then check by disabling one by one

Mark as answer verified, if it works for you

    Hi Wal,

Maybe try what Muhammad suggested. You can also try to create a new form etc. Problem is, form designer should be working no matter what, so you have probably managed to run into some sort of bug there.

Thanks for the suggestions, I had not made a lot of changes yesterday so considering the time it took before posting here plus the additional time I went ahead and reloaded a backup from CRM Online. It's back. I am wondering if it was because I set the "Customer" field on the Case form to Read Only?

  • ashlega Profile Picture

    Good it's working.

PS. And no, it's definitely not just the customer field that caused it.. I just tried quickly..

OMG, its doing it again? I am not sure what I am doing. This time I created a business rule to auto-populate the "Customer" field to a default account, I hid the field with the same business rule. I then moved the field to a section that was hidden. I think I accidentally removed the "Customer" field from the form, however I added it back in. (Not sure if this had anything to do with it.)

    Here is what I see.

    • I cannot Open any Case forms from within the Solution, including Cards (I only edited the Main Case form)
    • I deactivated all of the Case forms one at a time and tried the next one in line to see if it would open. I got to the last one, I cannot open or deactivate it.
    • I cannot add a New Case form of any type.

    ---- Then ----

I waited some time, I did have one form open and I set the "Section" with the "Customer" field as Visible (Assuming I had not published the last and final time and hit "Publish All Customization." I turned off one Business Rule.  I logged out, then back in with the same Browser (Firefox,) then I went back to my final form, the "Web - Create Case" form and it opened.

I'm running an instance backup maybe an Solution Export, then I hope to activate the other forms I need. I'm a bit concerns that it will fail again.

    --------

The Main form opened up  from the Solution, I can view the fill Case list in Dynamics but do not seem to be able to open a "New Case"

or an "Existing Case". It spins saying "Requesting data from Dynamics 365"

    --------

    I received this error:

Sounds exactly like my issue. I will try it now.

No luck, I found one instance as described in the blog you sent over. I removed it and imported again, no luck.
