New Contact (under account rec) Error _ Contact System Admin

I can open a new contact from within 'Contacts' and choose an account.
But If I have an account record open, and select 'contacts" , New, and fill in the info, once I hit save, I get - Error -contact system admin.   Any thoughts?

    Paul,

    In Security for your assigned Role(s), what is your Append and Append To access for Accounts and Contacts?

     I would check Security first, but I would expect the error to elude to this a bit more than what the system is giving you by your post.

    Security setting for 'append' and 'ppend to' on account anc contact are all Organization level - even the Sys Admin cannot create a contact from within an account.  - The string below exists as the 'contact system administrator for more information' message is displayed: http://10.0.0.8/_common/error/errorhandler.aspx?errNum=&errMessage=An+unhandled+exception+occurred+during+the+execution+of+the+current+web+request.+Please+review+the+stack+trace+for+more+information+about+the+error+and+where+it+originated+in+the+code.
