Hi Folks,

We are Retailer of shoes and accessories but now we are going to start our own manufacturing.

We will procure Raw material from vendors and shoes making will be done in house using machines,

We want to setup production module for this purpose. Please let us know from where to start this process and how to implement.

Many thanks in advance.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Fahad,

There might be a lot of things that you have to setup (BOM, routes, costing, etc.).

You can get an overview on MS docs here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../production-control

Rather than trying doing the setup yourself, I would strongly recommend getting some AX production specialists in who can help you with the correct setup and configuration.

Trying to do that yourself alone can be very challenging if you have not done the production setup before.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Fahad,

For shoes business, you can go with Discrete manufacturing model with BOM approach. Do you have manufactuirng and cost accounting consultant or Consulting firm or you will do the In-house implementation?

As 1st step, I suggest you to create a high level scope and solution document which should cover all End-To-End processes (From Procure to consumption | production to stock processes | Sales to Invoice | Wastages & Recycling process)

As far as setup and configuration is concern, there are many setups which has to configured as per business requirement:

I can list down some of them just to give an idea:

    1. Create Production Journals
    2. Create Resources/Machines
    3. Create Resources Group
    4. Create Route Group
    5. Create Route Journals
    6. Create Operations
    7. Create Production cost groups (Direct Material/Labour/Machine cost, Factory overheads)
    8. Create Cost Categories(For labor and Machines)
    9. Create Bill of materials
    10. Create Wastages & Recycling Items
    11. Create Costing sheet
