GP Upgrade V10 to GP2010 on a new server for conversion testing

Just built a new server W2008R2 with all of the current updates, installed SQL2012 Std with all updates, installed GP2010 latest version.  All without errors...

Have GP V10 running on a W2008R2 box with SQL 2005 latest updates applied as of today (Production server).  Backed up the prod environment (Full SQL Backup), did a restore to the new GP2010 server but no companies show up????  The restore completes without errors???  Any help???

I am sure I am missing something simple here, can anyone help?  Client wants a new machine, is willing to go to SQL2012, but wants to go to GP2010 until GP2013 gets seasoned a little more...  But the restore does not restore the current companies from SQL2005 on the new SQL2012 server??

Thank you Sandip, it looks exactly like what I need.  None of my searches came close to finding this.  It would be great to have an upgrade strategy section in the Upgrade Guides that referenced articles such as this.  Again thanks and Best Regards.

Sandip, have you done any GP2013 conversions, and if so how have they went?

    Regards

    Rick,

Not yet. But end of this month or early next month I am planning to upgrade my GP2010 to GP2013. Everytime it went very sucessfully. Just keep good backup for safe side.

    Thanks

The issue isn't with the upgrade to GP 2013 guys. All you are doing is reading the db_upgrade table when you log into Utilities pretty much. Did you restore Dynamics and company databases? If you follow the exact steps in 878449 there will be no issue I promise.
