Batch totals not matching

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We recently created a Miscellaneous Log Batch and we noticed something strange. The Batch Total Actual amount which appears at the top of the batch report (and in the batch total field within the Batch Entry window) is different than the batch totals for Costs and Unbilled Revenue that show on the same report.

The Batch Total Actual amount is more than the batch total for Costs by one amount but less than the batch total for Unbilled Revenue by a different amount. We use a markup which is why the batch total for Costs does not equal the batch total for Unbilled Revenue.

Can anyone help explain why this might happen and if this is something that should be of concern when posting? We haven't posted this batch yet.

Thanks,
Sam

The imporant thing is to look at the resulting GL batch. If everything is included in that batch then you are fine.

Thank you for your help. There was something screwy going on with the batch. We ran a check links and the problem was resolved. There appears to have been some phantom transaction in their that wasn't showing up but was definitely being counted as the trx totals amount was off by 1 transaction.

I have seen incorrect batch totals throughout GP over the years and was never ever very concerned about it. As long as when you print the edit list all looks good you are fine. If you were checking hash totals on batches that would present a problem but hardly anyone does that any more. Reemember that the batch total is total of the document amounts so if you have credit and debits mixed in the total will appear incorrect. Since you are doing a miscelleneous log batch perhaps you have Referenced transaction.
