Scanner Carriage returns failing randomly

We have HP RP5700 systems with the HP scanner running Dynamics RMS 2.0.  We have a carriage return set up on our scanners which work most of the time; however, periodically while scanning items in, the system will 'lose focus' on the journal window somehow, causing items to not be entered into the transaction.  Unfortunately for us, the scanner keeps beeping as though it's scanning, so employees are unaware in some cases that the system hasn't been scanning items, and we lose revenue.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any solutions?

This is the only link I can find that comes close to the description of the problem, but I'm not sure that it's referring to the same phenomenon - as we're still able to operate once an employee clicks in the journal window on the correct input box, and in the scenario described, that doesn't seem to be working for them:

BTW - this happens at all of our stores on all registers randomly.  It is not isolated to one specific user or location.

Any info would be helpful, thanks!

I'm too experiencing the same issue where RMS is losing focus.  What I found is that if the user clicks on the taskbar, hit secure and logs back in it doesn't put the cursor back on the top left for scanning.  This is a work around that I've found to get rid of the taskbar, but its not pernament (when restart) also does require some training for user on how to use it and hot keys to access files if taskbar is a big usage for them.

Another issues was with RR VX805 interface, when a GC balance is checked it loses focuses to RMS (a new release fixed this issue).

Also when tendering cash transactions sometimes RMS seem like its crashing where everything turns all white and showing (NOT RESPONDING) on the top left corner, but after the receipt prints everything is fine, but doesn't put the cursor back for scanning and first items scanned will be missed.  If the cashier is aware and clicks back in the box so RMS is back in Focus everything works fine.

We use Symbol LS2208 scanner.  I believe this is a known issue where RMS will continually lose focus this has nothing to do with the scanner. The one thing that I can't figure out is why does it crash during cash transaction, this doesn't happen often, but I was able to replicate it twice any thoughts?

    Thanks!

You can try out full screen mode for RMS.  Ctrl-F6 to setup the screen properties.  Full screen mode makes RMS overlap the taskbar and makes the POS screen stay above other screens so that it does not lose focus easily.
