Hi, I m newbie and I dont have much working knowledge in AX but I have some outdated working knowledge in NAV (however, NAV does not have Rest or JSON web service. Correct me if i am wrong).

I have done consuming Asp.net Web Api Json Web Service using Swift 3/4(iOS) as well as in C# using HttpClient for MVVM pattern.

Now I have a new assignment for Microsoft AX and I need some help.

1) How mobile client like iOS(Swift3/4) consume AX Json Web Service

2) How to create Restful Web Service(JSON) in AX

3) How to consume AX webservice for authentication and authorization

please kindly help.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.  However, I think I have some questions.

    1)Consuming Rest API

    dynamics.folio3.com/.../consuming-rest-apis-dynamics-ax-2012

for (1), I think you means AX itself consuming rest api. So , it can consume REST Web APi from asp.net Web Api?

    2) Expose AX 2012 AIF services (SOAP) as RESTful web services

    community.dynamics.com/.../expose-ax-2012-aif-services-soap-as-restful-web-services

for(2), I hope you can help to explain so that I can see how it works as I am new to this Ax.

So , one has to implement AX webService thru AIF (Application integration Framework) and this AX webservice will use  .net Biz connector to call AX class methods.

I have these questions for This normal AX webService is SOAP based.

2.1) The Mobile Client will have to add Web Reference from this AX SOAP web service.

This means this is only for .net App like winRT but this will not be for mobile client like iOS and Android platform!

2.2)  Expose AX 2012 AIF services (SOAP) as RESTful web services

This means it has to use Azure platform.

    Can you show me how

    a) Xamarin app ( windows base) consume this Rest Web Service

    b) iOS and Android consume this rest webservice

    Thanks

    1. Yes, you can consume REST-ful services in AX. In fact, you can use any .NET API.
    2. Yes, AX 2012 exposes SOAP services, not JSON. No, it doesn't use Business Connector.
      1. No, that's not correct. You can call these web services from any platform that can use SOAP; adding a reference is an implementation detail in cases when you use Visual Studio (which is no requirement).
      2. No, it's not related to Azure.

For question about how to use services in Xamarin, please ask in a Xamarin forum. The same for iOS and Android.
