Automatic release job for sales orders not includes sales orders generated by production orders

Hi all,

I would appreciate your advice on this matter. Currently, when I manually start a production order on the production screen (see in attached picture), and then run the automatic release job for sales orders (see in attached picture, the system automatically creates a work ID, shipment, etc. However, when I start the production order via the shop floor execution and then run the automatic release job for sales orders, the system does not automatically create the work ID, shipment, and other associated tasks.

Could you please help me identify the root cause of this issue?

    Good day,

What is your issue? Is your issue that the system creates work and it shouldn't create work when you start a production order? Or is your issue that you see a different behavior?

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hi Lalalee,

May I ask for an example, where the system was able to release the sales order when starting the production order? Have you tested both scenarios for the same order?

I noticed on your screenshot that the the quantity to release must be 'physical reserved'. Have you test to start the production order manually and check if the sales order is physically reserved or  when you start the production order on the production floor execution, is sales order physically reserved?

Firstly, ensure that production orders started with Shop floor execution goes to the required status and verify that Shop floor execution parameters align with the system's requirements for triggering work creation and shipments. Check the Automatic Release Job configuration, ensuring it processes orders started via Shop floor execution, and validate Warehouse Management integration, including work templates, location directives, and wave templates as well. your issue will most likely get resolved by this.

    Hi LaLaLee,

Production Order "Release" or "Start" have nothing to do with the creation of Sales Order pick work. It does not matter if the Production Order is started from Production Order Details form or from the PFE, Production Order status has not impact on Sales Pick work; completely unrelated.

What will create work (using the Automatic release of Sales Order or any other release to warehouse process) is Items in Inventory available for reservation.  If the item on Sales Order line is not in inventory, the only Production transaction that matters is Report as Finished because it adds inventory that can be reserved and picked.
