Mail Merge - very slow - creating activities

Hi Everyone

We do alot of fax and email blasts. We like to track everything, so we train our people to track anything they are sending out. The problem is, when we do track items in a mail merge (about 500 records at a time) it takes FOREVER for the activities to be created, and the job to spool and print to the fax que. If we do not create the activities it runs very quickly.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
