Hi Experts,

Can anyone help me in understanding /Deviation over/ and /Deviation under/ in counter master in asset management. Am providing necessary screenshots and I hope someone in this community helps me in interpreting the math in the below statement present in 2nd screenshot.
/Aggregated value 810.00 is not within the expected range of 7,099.85 - 9,466.47/

Thanks
Pranav

Asset management D365 F&O - Deviation in Counter
    Hi,

The deviation over represents the percentage increase in your counter reading.
That's mean, if you recorded an initial value of 100 then you can increase your reading up to 100 + (100*20%) or you can decrease also (100 - (100*10%))
If you increase the value by more than 20% the system will display this message.

This message (information) will display based on this calculation

(Last value + (Last value * deviation over%)) or (Last value - (Last value) * deviation under%))

So your range will be always (First value + (-) deviation)

Hope that's clear and helpful for you

    Hi,
"Sum" is used to continuously add the registered value to the total value. I have configured the same data as you in the test environment. Will the prompt message appear when you enter the values in the third and fourth rows? You can adjust the value according to the deviation you set. Make sure it's within the appropriate range. But I don’t know much about the specific scope of the prompt information display. You can wait for the reply from other experienced experts.

    Best Regards,
    Hana

    Thanks for responding Hana Xue.

I had to reach out to community after going through MS documentation. The explanation was very vague. I believe you understood MS documentation very well. Can you interpret and help me understand the screenshots provided in my question.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
You can check out the documentation for counters, it describes the Deviation field as follows:
Asset measures - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

You can also view this documentation: Automatic update of asset counters - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn On the Asset aggregated value page, you can get an overview of the latest registration that have been made on all counter types on all assets. Select Asset management > Inquiries > Assets > Asset aggregated value. This page resembles the Asset counters page, but you can't add or edit registrations. It's for overview only.
    Best Regards,
    Hana
