auto generate serial number in Assembly

I have an item that tracks serial numbers. I have a mask assigned to the serial number sequence for this item. This item is a manufactured part. We use the Inventory Bill of Material and the Assembly Entry.

Can GP auto generate the next serial number for that item when it is made using the Assembly Entry?

I think that feature is only available if you use GP Mfg Orders instead of Inventory Assembly Orders.....
