System Message 12304

Our company is currently using Dynamics SL 6.5.  One client is getting System Message 12304 : "08400 is already running on this workstation.  The process will be cancelled."  This client can release AR batches one time after a computer restart.  After that, each time the client tries to either release an AR batch from Payment Application or open Release AR Batches, the client get the previously mentioned error.  The Knowledge Base mentions this error in version 7, but nothing for version 6.5.  According to the Task Manager, 08400.exe is not running.  Has anyone else come across this issue and/or have any ideas about resolving it?

Thank you,

Chris

Thanks for the reply, I did not have have this process listed on my Activity Monitor, just the client computer.  I will try your suggestion to change print process for printer.  Solomon guys said use an older driver, maybe.

     Nick,

Using SQL Server's Management Studio, I opened Activity Monitor and viewed the processes that were started by the Host computer that had the printing problem.   When I killed the hpmup081.bin process on the host, the hung process on the SQL server also died.

The user is using a Universal PCL6 Print Driver.  I may have also changed the Print Process; I don't remember which process is used by default with this print driver.  You can try going into Advanced tab of Printer Properties for the problem printer and changing the Print Process.

How did you find the hung process on the SQL Server??  I am having the same problem with PCL 6 driver.  What driver did you find worked for you?

Microsoft Tech said they did not support printing of Dynamics SL and just keep trying until you find a drive that works.

Your work around "killing the HPmup process worked.  Good find.  Microsoft Dynamics answer was to reload client.

I hate to reply to my own post; but I found out what was causing the issue.  The printer that was being used to print reports on this workstation was using an HP Universal Print Driver (PCL 5).  Using this driver caused processes to hang on the MS SQL Server.  Killing the hpmup081.bin process in Task Manager on the workstation also killed the hung processes on the MS SQL Server.  Changing print drivers resolved the issue.
