Is there a way to add the notes field to the invoice preview in 2015 or update it so the default report information is pulled into the preview?

Dawn, have you ever received a response or solution to this request? I have tried in vain to get this to work for me. I would be very interested in what you have found out.

No I have not. We tried everything we can think of also. We have several SSRS experts and they can't figure it out either. I wish we could get an answer for it.
