Outgoing Email failure using Email Router with SMTP(SSL/TLS)

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am experiencing outgoing email issue with my newly installed CRM 2016 which is configured to use Email Router.

The problem is related to sending email using smtp server that require TLS/SSL and authentication. Multiple SMTP Servers have been tested but with the same problem.

Background:

smtp.gmail.com: The email configuration manager confirm success for outgoing email.

Problem:

smtp.gmail.com: From within the web interface, I create a new email profile and add a mailbox to the new profile.

  • Tested -(smtp.gmail.com) Within the Email profile, I configure Outgoing connection: Credentials Specified by a User or Queue
  • Tested -(smtp.sparkpostmail.com) Within the Email profile, I configure Outgoing connection: Use Credentials Specified in email Server Profile

--When I click to Test and Enable Mailbox, I get failure for outgoing but success for incoming

Further information:

aspmx.l.google.com: Using this smtp server works fine but it does not require authentication nor encryption. Another issue with this smtp  server is that it only sends email to google email addresses.

There could be several or multiple causes.  Go through each of the articles carefully and see if you can discover the source of your issue.

    Hi Samuel,

I don't know how to solve our challenges with the email router but I would suggest that you migrate to the server side synchronization instead as the email router is being deprecated.  technet.microsoft.com/.../dn265924.aspx

Setting up to support POP3/SMTP servers is supported as well.
