CRM 365 Import of managed solution and Duplicacy.

Hello All Experts,

I have removed some of the tabs , fields and sections from the four entities Forms.

I have four instances 

Dev

Preprod

Prod.

Now i have exported solution from the Dev instance as managed solution and import into the Preprod instance.

Now Problem is that whatever the changes which i have put on the preprod which duplicated.

Everything is looking duplicate.

How to avoid duplicate items then.

    Hi,

    As per MSDN that changes to entity forms and the sitemap won’t be overwritten even when the overwrite option is selected.  Some manual customization may be required to merge unmanaged customizations into changes included in an update to a managed solution.

    Recommendation for add new elements  :

    When you add new elements to a form that is to be merged, we recommend that you include your new elements within new container elements (tabs or sections). Additions to any container will be appended to the end of the container. For example, fields added to a section will be positioned at the end of the section. It is expected that a customizer installing a solution will then modify the form to re-arrange elements after it is installed.

    Hi,

    Try to export the solution as unmanaged and click overwrite customiations when importing. This worked for me

    When you are using Managed Solutions, FormXML's Merge, i.e it just inserts the misiisng portions inside your existing FormXMl in DB.

    What i noticed is with Unmanaged solutions, it created new record in DB and hence overwrites.(but you cannot rollback)

    Hello All Experts,

    Does it mean that I cannot rollback the action if I import the solution as unmanaged

    When I was trying to import the solution as managed , I didn't get overwrite the customization.

    Isn't there any possible way to override existing customization while importing.

    Hi ,

    I have also faced similar issue  , I did some manual operation to remove those additional tab in the target environment. And next time deployment I have not face any issue all are fine in our form. So I  would suggest try to do manual operation in your target environment and remove additional tab.

    This is not recommended but I don't think any other way to do that.

    When I was trying to import the solution as managed , I didn't get overwrite the customization. -- This happens if you install the managed solution again i.e. if you already had the same solution installed.

    Isn't there any possible way to override existing customization while importing.-- I don't thinl there is any option with managed solution. You need unmanaged.
