SQL Error while applying V90 SP4

Posted on by 4,887

My client is trying to apply V90 SP4 (build 9.00.0385).

They are on build 9.00.0372 (SP3 - I think).

They have 9 different databases.

During the Upgrade of company databases - the main database throws a SQL error as follows:

"the stored procedure smbindtabledefaults returned the following results DBMS: 15101, Microsoft Dynamics GP 0"

Most companies do upgrade without problems - so data in the main company is culprit.

Has anyone seen this error? I found nothing on PartnerSource.

Thanks in advance........

    Hi Bron,

Yes, change the dex.ini to record the Dexsql log. You could be right on the Date/Time stamp issue. I haven't come across it before. I don't think the checklinks would resolve but I don't know for sure so its worth trying...and I have no idea about the in between builds. You could try David Musgrave or Mariano Gomez on this one - they usually have ideas / solutions on this kind of thing.

Post the results of the dex log when you get it.

    Ian.

Basically - I will have to change the dex.ini to create the log and then filter through the log to where it errors?

Then I will have to decide - try to fix or restore dynamics and the company database...........

I was hoping somebody may have encoutnered this on a particular table. I think the system is trying to convert a date column into a date/time column - as you know in GP they starting doing date/time stamps on some of the tables (SOP for example) at some point in time.

In the past - i've had incredible luck applying service packs - normally everything works great.

Do you think a checklinks on all series if done right before the upgrade might eliminate this error?

Also - I was wondering if there is a build between .0372 and .0385 that I could deploy and see if this error re-occurs....

    Just wondering........

Thanks for your assistance........your advice is always spot on..........

That sproc is in the Dynamics database, but the table that is causing the issue is probably in your main company alright. You will need to get a dexsql log for the upgrade process to see which table this is before you can debug the problem.

    Best regards,
