Modifying the 1099 Form

Posted on by 2,485

This is driving me crazy!!  I need to modify the GP 1099 print so that the fields line up properly, but going into Report Writer, I can select the field I want to move and try to move it, it snaps to the grid.  Snapping to the grid is too much of a move.

How do I make it NOT snap to the grid?

Thanks.

Jeff

Anyone know how to move only the SECOND form down; top form fits fine, but second form needs to go down some.

    Appreciate the input!

As someone had suggested on a search, I put the Rent Vendors in a Class by themselves and was able to do what I needed, which is similar to what Leslie said.

Thanks for all of the input!

Actually, this is an improvement in the 1099s. Since rent also goes on the 1099 MISC, they have restricted it by form instead of box. You can select which box on the transaction and that selection follows over to the 1099. Now, a single vendor can have Interest, royalties, NEC, rent, etc using the same vendor ID. I considered this a leap forward in 1099 processing compared to the olden days of GP. If you must separate them, you'll need to use one of the restrictions allowed on the 1099 print window. I used to use User Defined 1 for my grouping requirements.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Since we are on the subject of 1099, why can't we select individual 1099 boxes to print any longer?  We used to be able to select just Rents, but now we don't.

This is a 'text' report and as such does not allow pixel by pixel movement. To make minor vertical and horizontal movements you must use the print dialog box and set the movement. The print dialog box is the box that comes up asking you how many copies you want. I don't have gp loaded on this machine, but I'm sure someone can provide you with a screenshot. Also, make sure you have changed the format to single feed instead of continuous. The default when you open the window is continuous.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Figured it out...damn Preprinted Form checked.  Once unchecked, placement is free-form.

    Thanks anyway.

Tried that already.  Still moves the field according to the grid.

Try using Ctrl+G in the report writer.
