I have a requirement for production industry that they want to planned and maintain the costing for their finished product according to their sales.
After creating sales order required production and purchase need to be done in AX.
Before producing a Final finished product for sales, different items went through several production steps via several machines.

Below i am trying to explain through example, hope it will help little bit to understand the scenario.

Suppose i created Sales order of Item 1.
That item 1 consist Item 2 in its BOM lines.

That item 2 also produced through production order in system which consist item 3 in its BOM lines.

now again same with item 3 it also produced through item 4 and Item 4 is purchased by the company.

Now what is required that when sales order for item 1 is create, raw materials item requirement should get calculated and if on -hand inventory is not match for raw material items then purchase or production order should create according to sales order item quantity.

Suppose Item 1 BOM lines consist Item 2 quantity 4.
Item 2 BOM lines consist item 3 quantity 4.
Item 3 BOM lines consist item 4 quanity 4.

Item 4 is purchase by the company.

Now if I created sales order of Item 1 for 5 quantity.
Now according to BOM lines Item 2 production order of 20 quantity and based on that item 3 production order of 80 quantity and finally purchase order  of item 4 of quantity 320 should be create.

I know its messy, hard to understand by this. Please ask me if you have any confusion in that.

    What is your question?

You have described a pretty standard BOM structure and acknowledged that Mater plan will be essential to make this automated. AX support that...

To be able to create production orders that are cost accumulated for the item transaction you need to create an item requirement in your project and NOT a production order. You deliver the item requirement when your production order is reported as finished as opposed to being directly consumed to the project.

Use master plan to create the production order for item 1. Then the BOM will take care of each other item requirement...

Note that for each BOM level a production order is created. As you only have one item per level you might want to create one BOM level with 64 pcs of item 4 and a route with an operation for each product level you described. Using Phantoms will maintain the structure in system,  but "lifts" or explodes your BOM level.

If you set up the multi level BOM and master planning parameters and then run master plan then Ax will analyse all the demand, net off the inventory on hand and already released orders, and will then plan the remaining supplies needed based on the item order types you have defined.  That seems to be what you are require.

Also coverage group is important and parameters on master plan being used.

Looking at your scenario, you may want to turn on the flag for consume on hand inventory first (before planned orders are generated).
