Add custom button and pop up a message box just like assign button click box

Hello All Experts,

I need to add a custom button that will open a popup as like when we click Assign button.

any help will be appreciable?

Hello,

Everything depends on what do you want to be shown in that popup window.

If you want to compose something nice-looking in a relatively easy way and you're familiar with React/FluentUI you can check the following post - butenko.pro/.../

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your information. but i need to call the exact same dialog box which gets open when click on the Assign button.

so, is there any way which can be utilized to call that same exact pop up box .

Hi EmployeeOcta,

If you only want to get assign function, maybe you don’t need create button and dialog, you can use OOB workflow to achieve it.

There is a step ‘assign record’ in workflow, you can add it.

If you want to copy assign dialog to new button, you can unpack, modify Form XML of forms, and repack solutions because a Dialog Box is nothing more than a system form.

Hello Leah,

Thanks for your reply. but i am not sure whether dialog will exactly be working same as open after clicking on Assign from your given links.

if we look at the below dialog it's after clicking on Assign button and which contains the lookup fields.

is there any way that i can call this dialog only by it's id or something like that.

Hello,

If you want to open that dialog I would recommend investigating how dynamics does it and use the same code.

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for the information. actually i donot want to utilized the core command associated with that, simply i need to utilize the similiar dialog but only assign the contact records.

i think this type of requirement is not possible with that Assign dialog.

Also there are points like lookup do not work on dialogs.

Everything is possible. The other question is how long could it take.

If you don't want to develop the custom dialog using Html/JS/React/Whatever you always can use Canvas App and open it from your code.
