Modifying default reports in CRM

ReportReport

I have been trying to modify the case summary table report in CRM. I tried to either edit it or create a new one with the report wizard based against it. Both methods did not work.

I did a search on the forum and saw that some peopel use Visual Studio to work with the canned reports.

So if I understand correctly, the CRM tool itself cannot modify the out of the box reports?

Can anyone advise?

This is correct. The way to modify them, in terms of their look and feel, is to go to the edit page, go to actions and download the report, modify it and then go back to the edit screen, browse to your report and click Save and Close to re-upload it. The report is xml so, in theory, you could edit it in a text editor (which I've done) but it would not be recommended. Visual Studio has been the tool of choice until quite recently when SQL Server 2008 came out which has its own editing tool. Leon Tribe Want to hear me riff on about all things CRM?
