Share fields between different Business Units but not records

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are planning to use the same entity of CRM online for our UK and Netherlands businesses. CRM online has been set-up and is being used in our UK business. I would like to provide our Netherlands business with access to our set-up and fields, but not the UK records/data. I also don't want the Netherlands business to see the UK records/data. I have set-up two Business Units. How do I achieve the field sharing, but not record/data sharing?

Go to settings>.security>>users>>change business unit of Netherland users to 'netherland'>>assign them security roles at BU level only and they will not be able to see UK data.

    Understand Security Roles here:crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../security-roles

Hi, yes that is correct. Do you know how I can do this?

    Hi Mike,

If I understand what you mean, you are interested in sharing the metadata of the entity but not the records? That is, just information about some fields in the entity. I'm I right?

Another interpretation of your question is , you intend to have Netherlands data separate from UK data using the same entity?
