Attempts to contact HQ failed (Check Stores)

When using the Check Stores feature on the Store Quantities lookup screen, sometimes our lookup will succeed but usually it fails with the error "Attempts to contact HQ failed".  The HQ Client configuration is valid and the behavior is similar on multipl POS machines; it usually fails but occassionally succeeds.  What can contribute to this failure?

    Hi Rich Black

    Just check what type of error you getting on HQ Client, because when try to check store quantity from POS or from anywhere you can see process in your HQ Client

    This was resolved by updating the Configuration settings in Adminstration on each POS.  Even though the database connection is servername\instancename, on the HQ Client tab the \instancename must be removed.  Apparently this relies on the SQL Browser.  Odd that the settings are inconsistent, but it works.
