Hi Folks,
I hope someone can answer this rather unusual issue one of my clients came across..
Users are accessing GP thru a Terminal Server setup setup in Azure, where GP is published as an app.. This has been working fine for almost a year without any noticeable issues. Recently one user decided to start putting their files on their corporate OneDrive folders locally on their computer and grab them from there when GP looks for a file. A typical case is when you want to upload a new budget thru the Excel Wizard in GP. This worked fine until they started put the files on the OneDrive location in their computers at which point GP just freezes when it comes to browse for a folder, meaning that it worked a few times, but now for some reason the folder that the user tries to access is no longer "visible" to GP.
Typically the entries in the Registry for that user on the TS server for the MRU branch would look like \\tsclient\D\OneDrive - CompanyName-etc..
I don't think GP stores any of that information in the user's registry, but I can't say 100% for sure. It does store the information somewhere, because I experienced that myself by changing it and GP "remembers" the last location.
My theory is that the last used location isn't accessible anymore to GP and thus it freezes the client. The user tried to run GP in full Desktop RDP mode and this issue didn't happen, and/or the locations weren't the same..
I'm trying to pinpoint how GP is "remembering" the file/folder locations when it comes to open or save a file, because the issue is not just with the Excel Budget Wizard, the problem came up as well when trying to print a report out to a location and GP would freeze the same way.
Any insights would be really appreciate.
